Midday host Bill West, the author of the BBQ Blueprint, (more here) is a Chicago native and the youngest of six kids. West has spent the last twenty five years in the Southeast playing country music. Armed with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Bradley University in Peoria, IL, he took his first “real job” in sunny Hilton Head Island, SC in 1989 (one week before Hugo).
Now, married twenty years to MJ, they have a home in Mt. Pleasant
and have one son, Jack, who is fourteen years old and just may be the next Keith Urban.
West blogs about BBQ on his site BarbecueTricks.com. ”When it comes to BBQ I try to find solid time saving tips and tricks to make
the grilling life a bit easier,” He says “ It’s life hacking for the backyard cook.”
West sits on the Board of Directors for the Southern Barbecue Network as well as the Board
of Trustees for Point Hope United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant.
Misc.: West actually likes those atomic “sign the waiver” hot wings on the menu, he still
misses the TV show LOST, and was once turned down for the part of “soldier,” for the major motion picture Forrest Gump (it’s still his favorite movie).
